CYNTHIA BUTLER Obituary

BUTLER, CYNTHIA ANNE Cynthia Anne Butler, age 76, passed away peacefully and with dignity at Andy's House Hospice, in Port Carling, on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Cynthia passed with her daughter Andrea by her side. Cynthia was married to Greg Butler for over 50 years, who preceded her in death in June of last year. Cynthia is survived by her daughter Andrea Butler (Tiffany Commins); her grandson Pearson Butler-Commins, her two nephews Chris Yates (Satoko), and Darren Yates (Ingrid Wong-Yates) who looked to Cynthia as a mom; her grandniece Aila Yates, and grandnephews Brandon, and Kazuki Yates who fondly referred to her as Grandma Cyn; and the entire Butler family. She will be lovingly remembered by Carole Kainz, a lifelong friend from the age of 12. Born on November 13, 1944, in Toronto, where she spent most of her life, Cynthia was the first daughter of Wilf and Vera Broderick. Her younger sister Denise Yates preceded her in death. Cynthia worked in many roles at Air Canada including ground crew, reservations and as a booking agent. These years with Air Canada fostered Cynthia's love for travelling (to warm destinations), and many lasting friendships. Following her early retirement, Cynthia lived a full life despite many health issues, including cancer and heart disease. She enjoyed boating on Georgian Bay and spent many days and nights at resorts on Georgian Bay. Lasting friendships were made, and good times were had. Cynthia's time and passion was focused on her immediate family. She was in daily contact with her only child, Andrea, and was a devoted and loving grandma to Pearson, her only grandchild. In 2018, to be closer to Andrea and her family, Cynthia and Greg moved to Bracebridge. After Greg passed, Cynthia moved in with Andrea and her family and these days were filled playing checkers, Connect Four and Crazy Eights. Especially during Covid and the lockdowns. Cynthia's health continued to deteriorate over the past few years. The care from Dr. Kappos was integral in keeping Cynthia in her home as long as possible. As well as all the care from the community nurses and PSWs associated with the LINH helped her final years be in the comfort of her home. A special thanks to Cierra Heron, Cindy Naylor, and Janna Watson. A genuine and heartfelt thank-you to all the amazing staff at Andy's House. All of you delivered the best mental, physical, and spiritual end of life care possible for Cynthia; and for taking such good care of Andrea, Tiffany, and Pearson. Thanks to Carole Kainz and Wendy Gray who spent numerous days bringing comfort and laughter to Cynthia during her time at Andy's House. Cynthia's wishes are being fulfilled and cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Bracebridge, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to Andy's House Hospice and can be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home. We have just recently learned of Cynthia’s passing. We were former neighbours in Bolton many years ago and have such fond memories of Cynthia & Greg and the good times we shared on Forest Court. Just a wonderful couple! Our sincere condolences to Andrea & family!
