Dan Corcoran Obituary

DAN "DONAL" PATRICK CORCORAN On July 10, 2009, Donal Corcoran (Donie) passed peacefully with the prayers and love of many. He will be welcomed home by his beloved wife Kitty (predeceased 2006), his brothers Fr. Denis Corcoran SDB, David Corcoran, and many friends and family. Donie leaves behind his grieving children, Margaret and Pat, his adoring grandsons Darragh, Michael and Liam, his loving sisters Noreen and Nellie, sisters-in-law, and an extraordinary Irish clan, some of whom will travel from Donie's birth place, Cork, to bid farewell to their beloved Uncle Donie. He loved to talk of Ireland and the history of his remarkable family. His memory was legendary. Donie was proud and independent. He had a strong work ethic, a generous heart and a wicked sense of humour. Donie was a master carpenter. His gifted hands could restore a fiddle, build a house, and do virtually anything in between. He was thrifty, but generous always sharing his hospitality with the legions of Irish clan and friends that visited. A lifetime Pioneer, he was an excellent provider. The family would like to especially extend their thanks to the extraordinary staff at the Dorothy Ley Hospice and to our Canadian "family" for their love and support. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling and Islington Aves.) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Transfiguration of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 45 Ludstone Dr., Etobicoke, on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or Wellspring Chinguacousy. "Do dhá láimh, á Chríost, anall tharainn." "Oh Christ, your two arms surround us."

Margaret and Pat,

Its been almost 50 years since your Dad, Joe O'Farrell and my Dad, all young men, worked together to keep a rambunctious gaggle of kids on the straight and narrow on Cowan Avenue. Your father will always be a role model and inspiration. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Pat and Family,
My thoughts are with you. It was an honour and priviledge to meet you. It is seldom that one meets such an indomitable spirit as your Dad held.

Pat and Margaret, and family , our deepest condolences and we will see you at visitation and services.

Your dads' favorite quotes from his mom:

Where I so tall
As to reach the sky
and grasp the azure by my span,
I might be measured by my height,
but it is the mind that makes the man
and our vigour is in our immortal soul

-Ovid

The Lords' Rain

Learn to make the most of life,
Lose no happy day.
Time can never bring thee back,
Chances swept away.
Leave no tender word unsaid,
Love while life can last.
The mill will never turn again,
With water that has passed.
