DAVID BAIN Obituary

DAVID BAIN It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dave Bain in his 71st year. Loving husband of Gail for 48 years, beloved father of Tracy (Charlie Johnstone) and Jodi (Bill Pardy), devoted grandfather to Meredith, Conor, Avery, Tatum and Reid, greatly missed by his siblings Hugh (Tamara), Linda (Jay) and Karen (Steve). Uncle Dave will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Born on November 2, 1941, Dave grew up in the Beach attending Williamson Rd. School and Malvern Collegiate Institute. He then went on to the University of Toronto, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree and became a teacher. Dave taught with the Toronto District School Board for 36 years and was lucky enough to retire at the early age of 56. Upon retirement, he turned his passion for travel into a "new career" coordinating lawn bowling tours, which took him, and his wife Gail, across the globe. Together they have travelled to more than 25 different countries meeting a countless number of people and forging lasting friendships. It was on a trip to Utah to visit friends and watch his grandson play rugby that he lost his life in a car accident. He passed away doing something that he truly loved, travelling. He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, infectious laugh and many life lessons he liked to share with his family. A memorial will be held at a later date when his wife Gail has sufficiently recovered from her injuries.

So many happy memories we will all have of Dave! Having a good coffee in the morning and a good joke,...maybe a discussion on how to save the world put a smile on our faces and determination in our step as we entered our class at QA. He glowed when he talked about his family, such a proud husband, father and grandfather. I hope that Gail is recovering quickly.

Dear Gail, Tracy, Jody and the Bain family:
This is a very difficult message to send. I find I am having a hard time finding the right words to express our feelings at this very very sad time. Having Dave taken from us so unexpectedly has been so terribly upsetting, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and to you Gail a full and speedy recovery and home soon.
Dave was a long time friend of ours and a wonderful man to call a friend, always a wonderful smile, twinkle in the eye but most of all a great story teller. Being non travellers he would always come to visit with tales of the adventures about his latest trip and always made us feel as if we had gone with him. Many a visit spent on our front verandah were full of fun and laughter, he has left us with a wealth of memories that will remain with us forever.
Dave was a unique individual and it was our good fortune to have spent so many fun filled visits with him over the years. May you be comforted by the many warm thoughts of those who care.
God Bless..
Charlie, Cathie Byrnes and Family xoxo
