David Douglas DUTTON

DUTTON, David Douglas Journalist, Retired, Ottawa Citizen Peacefully, on April 30, 2021, at Ottawa General Hospital, at the age of 69, following a month-long battle with COVID-19, with his daughter and sister at his side. Loving dad of Alexander Dutton (deceased) and Rachel Simon (Carl). Cherished and doting grandpa of Liliana Simon. Beloved son of Donald Dutton (deceased) and Gloria Dutton. Dear brother of Philip Dutton and Lisa Dutton (D'Arcy O'Brien). Adored uncle of Taylor Dutton and Cory May. The breadth of Dave's impact on the lives he touched - as a loyal friend, brilliant and accomplished journalist, valued and admired colleague, generous mentor and teacher - is immeasurable and enduring. To have a friend in Dave was to have a friend for life. He was a motorcycle lover and racer, a builder and fixer and tinkerer, and a lifelong cottager. But above all, Dave was a devoted family man with a heart of gold. To know him was to know his boundless love for his children, and that Liliana was his sun and his moon. The family would like to thank the many ICU doctors and nurses in both Perth and Ottawa for their skill, dedication, care, and comfort. A private cremation will take place, and a celebration of life will be held when friends, colleagues, and family can safely gather.
