David FLAHERTY Obituary

FLAHERTY, David Patrick August 25, 1948 - July 8, 2017 David passed away in the early morning on July 8th after a strong fight with cancer. He was surrounded by beloved friends and family during his last days. He is survived by his wife Jayne Eastwood, his children Olivia, Alicia and Dave Flaherty and his cherished grandchildren Danica (5), Robin (4) and Luke (1). Beloved brother and uncle. He was a longtime comedy writer (SCTV, Maniac Mansion) and professor of comedy writing at Humber College. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. James Parish (728 Annette St., Toronto), at 11 a.m. If desired, flowers can be sent to Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel or a donation can be made to Kensington Hospice. He will be deeply missed.

I just read the obituary and I found it because I saw a movie with Jayne in it and she is such a wonderful actress I wanted to see who she was married to. You have my heartfelt sympathy Jayne and all his family.

I was lucky enough to have David as a comedy writing professor in 2005-2006 and was always inspired by his encouragement and humour.
