DAVID FOOTE Obituary

FOOTE, DAVID ARTHUR December 6, 1939 - December 11, 2022 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Foote, who passed away peacefully, on Sunday, December 11, 2022. David was born on December 6, 1939, to Arthur and Gwen Foote (nee Mihel) in North York, Ontario. Trained as a car mechanic (but never graduated from high school) he spent his working years in car sales starting first with Fiat in 1956, Birchdale Lincoln in the 1980s, amongst a host of other manufacturers, and retiring from Hyundai in 2005. He spent his retirement years with the love of his life, Carole Foote (nee St. Amand). He split his time in Dunedin, Florida, with his writers group in the winter, and in Skerryvore, Georgian Bay, at the cottage in the summer. David is survived by Carole Foote and her daughter, Tara Curvin; daughters, Julie Shortreed, Stephanie Booth (Scott Booth); and son, Andrew Foote (Lisa Foote). His sister, Ruth Moore (David Moore); and grandchildren, Emily, Stuart, Taylor, Mitchell, and Christian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a Charity of Your Choice, in David's name.

Carole
We were saddened to read of Dave´s passing.
When we saw him this past August, while he faced challenges moving about, he appeared healthy and energetic. He spoke fondly of the camaraderie of the folks in your new community and your future there. We were surprised to read the announcement.

The first time we met Dave, he shared his "Skerryvore book".
His book was an enlightening and appreciated read for newcomers. The book is an excellent chronicle of the area´s history and he was able to document his (significant and selfless) participation in the growth of the community without tainting the product with self-promotion. At times we still revisit it.

Many times he offered suggestions on our `projects´ or recommended community tradespeople who could help. He would often share an entertaining anecdote or experience.

In years past we enjoyed his column in the local paper, especially his extensive writings in the years of low water levels. He must have spent hours researching and writing about the likely causes and potential solutions.

It is said the a person´s legacy is measured by their impact on those with whom they interact. In Dave´s case, this legacy is overwhelmingly positive and significant.

Our sincere condolences
