DAVID FRENETTE Obituary
DAVID EDWARD FRENETTE Passed away at the age of 20 on August 30, 2014 after a beautiful dive off the Humber River Bridge over looking Humber Bay and the Toronto Skyline. David lived a full and energetic life. He was born at McKellar Hospital on December 28, 1993, attended St. Jude, Sacred Heart and St. Patrick High School, where he took more pride working on and off stage as a sound and lighting technician than he did in his actual school work. In his last year of High School he took a military co-op and he joined the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment Army Reserves. Following high school he moved to Hawaii to study photography and journalism. Upon his return he worked for TBT Engineering. He then attended and excelled at Confederation College until recently when he moved to Etobicoke to study Journalism at Humber College. David's passion was life, and he absorbed every minute of it. He loved listening to all genres of music and playing musical instruments. He was a proficient drummer, self-taught piano player, and most recently was learning the tenor saxophone. David read voraciously and wanted to know everything about the world, life, people and culture. The outdoors was where David enjoyed expending some of his boundless energy. Whether it was hanging out with family or friends at his camp out at Stanley, his family and cousins at the cabin on Rainy Lake, or his brother and sister all over the world, he enthusiastically embraced adventure. Skiing and snowboarding were his preferred winter sports, and while he most enjoyed heli-skiing at Whistler, he tried anything and everything. He loved hiking anywhere, from Kakabeka Falls to a month of Outward Bound hiking through the Rockies with his sister. David loved the water and was a great swimmer, certified lifeguard, and excellent diver. Whether it was off the jib boom of the tall ship HMS Bounty on his trip from Thunder Bay to Green Bay, Wisconsin, cliff diving in Hawaii, Jamaica, Australia, Lake Superior, Rainy Lake, or the Third Tower at the Complex, he was in his element. He also loved to kayak and canoe. Ultimately, David excelled in anything he set his mind to, and his most recent goal was healthy living, healthy mind and healthy body, which he attained through endless hours of running, cycling, swimming, exercising, meditating and diet. His family will always enjoy memories shared with him on numerous roller coasters, sky diving in Cuba and surfing in Hawaii. His older brother will fondly remember playing video games with him, his favorite and most recent being Minecraft, and both he and his sister will never regret all the times David encouraged them to throw caution to the wind and do something exciting. David is survived by his parents Rob and Liana Frenette, his brother Joe and his sister Sarah, grandmother Edwina Frenette and grandparents Mark and Carol Hyatt, as well as numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and friends here in Thunder Bay and throughout the world. We will all miss his smile, his laughter, his talents and his energy! A memorial was held at 1099 Harstone Drive in Stanley, Ontario on Saturday, September 6th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at his home at 1100 Ridgeway St. East. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a humane society or charity of your choice. David Frenette will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. The annual dedication service is Sunday, June 14, 2015.
