HAMILTON, DAVID HUGHES Passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. David, age 89, was the beloved husband of the late Ellen "Ella" Close (nee Curry), father of Patricia Allain (Guy), Lesley McGregor (Duncan), Karen Hamilton, David Hamilton (Teresa), Diane Ellison (Bill), and Elaine Oades (Mike). Grandfather of Caitlin (Jeff) and Phillip; Calumn (Maria), Alanna (Dave), and Graham; Hilary (Sean) and Sandy; David (Julia), Nicholas, and Dana; Jeremy (Amy), Sean (Brooke), and Jack; Charlotte, Elora, and William. Great-grandfather of Gunnar, Addison, Olivia, Conor and Bennett. A longtime City of Toronto employee in the Water Revenue department, David came to Canada in 1957 from Northern Ireland to make a new life for his family. Ella and the two oldest children joined him in June of that year. Davy and Ella continued to grow their family in Canada. Although he worked two jobs when the kids were little, he always found time for his family and family picnics. Many special memories were made during summer vacations at our treasured cottage rental. David was an active member of church in each community where he lived and most recently at St. Andrews in Lindsay. He would go out of his way to help others. Anyone who spoke to him knew he loved a joke and a good laugh. If desired, a memorial donation to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
