David Hayne was a brilliant academic and a superb lecturer. More importantly, he was a person who genuinely cared about others and demonstrated that love and concern through actions. The world is a better place because he has been in it.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.

Mr Hayne was my neighbour for my entire life. He was a man that was warm hearted, caring and very influential. He was my unofficial 2nd Grampa!
When I was married this past June, I was so excited to hear that he was attending my wedding, and that his daughter and her significant other were making their long journey from up north! He had such a smile on his face the entire evening.
I saw Mr Hayne every week at my work and he always greeted everyone with a warm smile and hello. When I walked into work and told them Mr Hayne had passed away, we all teared us.
Mr Hayne, you were a wonderful man that was an influential part of my life. Goodness knows you are the reason I got through high school french, always willing to help. I'm so thrilled and honored to have known you, and I will miss you!
