Dave gave us a lot of his time as Coach of our football team at St. Mike's, U of T, from 1990 to 1994. I'm not sure what I liked more... when he shared the stories of his life growing up in the states, or when he made up plays in the backfield with crazy names, that always worked. We won three Mulock Cup championships with Dave and coach Lex Bryd. I really admired Dave, even though at the time I had no idea how much he had accomplished in his life, and how big a star he was in Toronto in the 60s.
Condolences to his family and thanks to Dave for the great memories.

I got to know Dave Mann through his daughter Angela about 35 years ago. I spent most of my teenage years in the Mann's home. I heard Jazz music for the first time in that house. We only listened to the Irish Rovers in my house. It was so much fun to hear that music for the first time. Mr. Mann would sit there in the basement and tell us to keep quiet and listen to the music. Sometimes we would start cracking up but he gave us one of his looks so we stopped our giggles. We eventually got it...we now knew what the music meant. He taught every kid that came into that house how to embrace music, life, sports and family..and to have respect for all of it. You will be missed Mr. Mann...thank you for music and my forever friend Angela.
