DAVID MANUEL Obituary

DR. DAVID R. MANUEL It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of David at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, March 5, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 72 years. David was the much loved husband of Karen. Loving father of Dai (Christie) and Josh and adored and cherished step- father of Ashley and Emily. Much loved and proud Grampa of Aidan, Jaelyn, Kai, Gemma, Chardonae and Brielyn. David was the beloved brother and friend of Phil (June) and John (Mary). Predeceased by siblings Russell and Dorothy. David had a long and successful career as a Veterinarian and founded (with Richard Liddell) the Ajax Animal Hospital in Ajax, Ontario. Special thank you to the Palliative CareGreen team and ParaMed nurse Barb Puddy, Emily and the staff on 4F Lakeridge Health Oshawa. A Celebration of David's Life will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (N. of Hwy. 2), 905-443-3376, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in our Arbor Lounge from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Team Chelsea's "Animal Care Fund" (A volunteer group Assisting animals in Durham Region). I have just learned of Dave's death from Miss Smythe, who was our French teacher at Malvern. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. On behalf of the Malvern Red and Black Society, I send the whole family our deepest condolences.

I was at Malvern Collegiate when David attended and noticed him because of his gorgeous blonde hair. He was a nice kid, a nice adult and a great vet. He saved my elderly Bichon's life and she had another 5 years because of his surgical skills. He took care of several of my dogs and my cat. He was a really decent and kind human being.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. David R. Manuel at the Ajax Animal Hospital many times when I brought my cats in for care. He was very professional and caring person. Sorry to hear that he passed away. Known him since 80s.
