Dr. David Cowper Smith MILLAR

MILLAR, Dr. David Cowper Smith (MD) - October 31, 1926 - November 20, 2014 Known for his sense of humour, larger than life personality and love for children. David was born in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. He attended medical school at Queen's University, Belfast, training in General Practice and Obstetrics. He worked for a period of time as a physician for the Canadian Air Force in post-war Germany before settling in Dover, England. He immigrated to Brampton in 1968 where he spent a long and happy career as a family physician. His office was filled with photos of the many babies he delivered and included a drawer full of magic tricks to entertain his young patients. He loved his family, flying his Cessna at the Brampton Flying Club, travelling, his dog Maggie and all things British. He is sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Winifred, children Simon (Susan), Barbara (Bruce), Patrick (Grace), grandchildren Annie, Andrew, Christina, Michael, Stephanie, Sarah, Jennifer and David of whom he was most proud. There will be a gathering to occur at Andrews Community Funeral Centre (8190 Dixie Rd., Brampton, ON, 905-456-8190) from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Memorial Service to follow in the chapel at Andrews Community Funeral Centre at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014.
