DAVID ALEXANDER SCHICK It is with deep regret that the family announces the passing of David Alexander Schick, B.Sc., Mech Eng. On April 28, 2009 at McCall Centre in Etobicoke Ontario. David was born on May 4, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the only son of Kathleen Victoria (Drewe) (1897-1999) and Bernard Schick (1898-1964). He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine (Elmhirst), son David William and Retta (Jex), daughter Catherine Anne and Mark Schueler, grandchildren Ryan David and Emily Rose Schick, Stephanie Mae and Carson James Schueler, sisters Dorothy Taylor of Scarborough Ontario, Margaret McMillan of Emerson, Manitoba, Bernice and George Taylor of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law Joyce Conrad of Calgary, Nora Tyldsley of Montreal, Barbara Elmhirst of Montreal and brother-in-law Brian and Donna Elmhirst of Victoria BC. He was predeceased by Roy Taylor, Max McMillan, and Harvey Elmhirst. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends and neighbours. David lived in Elmwood Manitoba in his early years and attended Glenwood and Lord Selkirk schools. He went on to United College and University of Manitoba where he earned his Bachelor of Science and won the Gold Medal for Mechanical Engineering in 1958. Also in that year he married Alice Lorraine Elmhirst and began his career with Union Carbide, Linde Gases Division (now Praxair) retiring 34 years later. David William was born in Kenmore, New York and Catherine in Cooksville. Mississauga has been their family home since 1967. David and Lorraine spent many happy years at their cottage in Haliburton. David was an avid golfer and fisherman and hobbies included music, oil painting and travelling. Memberships included Islington United Church and Joseph A. Hearn Masonic Lodge where he was Master in 1997. A celebration of his life will be held at Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Road, Etobicoke on Tuesday May 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place with interment at St. John's Cemetery, Mississauga. Dear Lorraine,

David was one of the first Masons I met. We had some time to get acquainted and share stories.
David especially liked my stories from Germany, back when I was an Air Force Brat.
