Diane BURNETT Obituary

BURNETT, Diane Agnes It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane on February 21, 2019. An East York girl who spent her career in the Stock Brokerage business enjoying every minute of it. Predeceased by her much loved parents Joseph and Margaret Bulai (she was Daddy's girl). Beloved wife of Joe Lumley who will miss her dearly. Diane was the love of his life. She also leaves behind her sister Judith, rarely one not seen without the other, brother-in-law Doug, Jackie Drummond (loved as a daughter), her niece Gwen Zybala, her close friends Nancy and Alexander McNiven, Heather Banks, Pamela Burnett and cousins too numerous to mention and finally her many friends and colleagues on Bay Street. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit of The Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa for their care and compassion.

Ann Marie Monahan

February 15, 2026

This is Ann Marie Monahan in Nanaimo BC. Diane and I were great friends in the early 60s when we both lived in the Bain Avenue apartments in Toronto. We did all kinds of things together and I remember her sister Judy and her parents. I didn't ever meet you Joe but I understand why she was the love of your life. We always had great fun. I found this obituary because I was going through old letters and found one from Diane of your wedding pictures and a long letter. Dated 1989. So I went on the Internet to see if Diane was still in Toronto and found this obituary. Just to let you know she was a well loved friend and obviously never forgotten. Love and hugs to all Ann Marie

I met Diane when I started working at Merit Investments in the mid 80's. She was a mentor and great teacher to a young greenhorne. Diane you will be missed.

I met Diane through Jackie and she was always so kind to extend invitations to me to enjoy in some
of their celebrations. What comes to mind is how generous she was and how on these occasions and I'm sure all, she made these events remarkable and so memorable. She was the epitome of class. I know what she meant to my friend and I'm sure she'll be missed so deeply by many others as well.
Rest In Peace Diane.

It was a great pleasure to meet this fantastic woman, who was always full of energy and made everyone feel welcome and even let me cook in her kitchen. You'll be missed but never forgotten, cherished memories forever. Condolences to all the Family. Much Love
