DINO BENVENUTO Obituary

BENVENUTO, DINO LEANDRO November 24, 1925 - April 14, 2023 We are saddened to announce the passing of Dino L. Benvenuto. Dean passed peacefully, in his 98th year, at Michael Garron Hospital, Toronto, with his beloved wife, Margaret Scott, at his side. Dean is survived by Margaret, his wife of many years; nephews, Michael (Lina), Robert (Donna), Paul (Teresa) and Denis (Trina) Bigioni; and sister-in-law, Marie Bigioni. Predeceased by parents, William and Angelina Benvenuto; sister, Elva Bigioni, brother, Lew Benvenuto, sister-in-law, Eleanor Benvenuto; and brother-in-law, Aldo Bigioni. In addition to being an excellent chef, Dean was something of a self-taught mechanical genius, who was able to understand, build and repair practically anything. He had numerous and varied interests and was widely read. He was a veteran of the second world war. Above all, he was kind, funny and unfailingly helpful to those he cared about. In their retirement years, Dean and Marg split their time between Toronto and Bruce County. The Glamis heritage home (and later the house in Kincardine) often hosted friends and family from "away." The Thirza Rea family, the Benvenuto/Bigioni families and local Scott relatives often enjoyed a weekend or a Saturday evening at the Benvenuto home - very fitting, since Benvenuto means "welcome" in Italian. Dean's family wishes to thank Dr. A. Vagaon of Michael Garron Hospital for his caring concern and compassion. It was deeply appreciated. Those wishing to honour Dean may do so with a donation to a charity of their choosing. A Celebration of Life will follow at a future date. Notwithstanding health challenges in recent times, Dean remained placid and pleasant to the end. He will be missed.

Aunt Marg. Deepest sympathies on your loss. Always enjoyed our time together with Dean. I will never forget the kites he brought me as a kid. Memories will always be cherished. If I still had that housecoat, I would gladly have let him have it.
