Dear Marlene:
Pat and I send our condolences.
Just living to age 85 is an accomplishment in itself.
We trust your sons will provide shoulders to rest on.

In Celebration of Donny Lee
Sorrow fills our hearts this sad moment, a sorrow that is deep and uniquely personal. Donny has silently closed the curtains of life and departed from us. Our lives will be dark and empty in the areas that he had brightened and filled for us with his razor sharp wit, sense of irony and humour. We are gathered here to honour Donny, say goodbye and celebrate his life.
When you met Donny after a gap in years, it is as if time stood still and you just picked up from where you left off. Three hours engaged in conversation felt like 10 minutes. He was very current, on point and insightful. You would have to back up your position or clarify because he did silently scrutinize and have a sharp mind. He was a good listener, took it all in, what was said and not said. Not much got passed, Donny.
Albert Einstein said,The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive. In one word, Donny was a man who gave unselfishly of himself, his talents and was very generous. Donny's life was a life that demanded notice.a life that exemplified brilliancea life that inspired emulationa life that burned so that others' paths were lit. Donny was living proof of how fine a person can be. He was a good leader to the people in his charge, a loving husband to his wife Marlene, and a devoted and proud father to his two children, Craig and Derrek. He was also a good friend to many of us and a great colleague I am told.
The character of the life he lived can't be summed up in a few words. So a kaleidoscope of thoughts come to mind. He was hardworking, passionate, sincere, loyal and fearless. He was authentic and earnest. What you saw is what you got, though he did like to throw in the zinger, his little fastball you didn't see coming in the conversation. He was sensitive, compassionate, loved nature and pets. He was a true athlete and kept up with sports during retirement. Be careful not to misjudge, in that small package loomed a powerhouse. He saw beauty in the simple things and had a zest for life that was hard to extinguish. He decided when it was time to rest on the bench. Marlene was the fire but Donny enjoyed being in the flames of many adventures that involved her. That thought will always warm my heart because soul mates are easy to spot. Donny had that twinkle in his eye when Marlene entered the room. He went along with the countless boxes of Christmas decorations that reviled any neighbour's house on the street. No halfway measures might as well go all out. A colourful life, a tasted life, a confronted life, a dared life, and one lived to the fullest was certainly better than a bland, safe, tinsel-less life.
Donny had known lots of pleasure,
And silently endured pain,
He hit home runs in the sunshine
And stole bases on life's journey in the rain.
For now, we're separated
And for a time apart,
But we are not alone -
He's forever in our hearts.
May our doors always remain open to family and friends
For love is a circle that has no end.
