McGILVRAY, DONALD BRIAN An always friendly and cheerful fellow, Donald succumbed to his lifetime struggle with a genetic disease, on March 5, 2022, at age 76. He was a champion sailor on Balsam Lake, and a loyal and honoured employee at several mutual fund companies. He enjoyed immensely his "Foot Loose" touring along the Trent Severn waterway every summer for ten years. Donald researched and compiled a family genealogy dating back to the 1800s. He will continue to be loved by his partner and wife of 30 years, Phoenix Lai McGilvray, sister Joanne (Mike) Smith, daughters Cynthia (Kasey) McGilvray and Katherine (Steven) Turner, and grandchildren Grayson and Adeline, to whom he was "Grampy". Donald will be fondly remembered as "Uncle Don" by Scott John (Donnell) and Sean (Melanie) Wellwood, and was granduncle to Caden, Reice, April, and Faith. It was his wish to be cremated, and he will rest among family members at Park Lawn Cemetery, Etobicoke. Friends may call the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel (4933 Dundas St. W.), on April 1, 2022, from 12 noon until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. In memory of Donald donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
