Doris VEERASAMMY Obituary

VEERASAMMY, Doris - October 7, 1925 - January 6, 2015 Passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at North York General Hospital at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Denny of 52 years. Lovingly remembered by her daughters Wanda and Ingrid (Richard) and sons Warner (Diane) and Ian (predeceased). Loving grandmother of Stephan, Chad, Alana, Leah and great-grandmother of Solmija and Stella. Doris (nee Bacchus) was born in Plantation Uitvlugt, Guyana. She is survived by her sisters Ruby and Norma, and brothers Rudolph and Dr. Robby Bacchus along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doris worked for the American Embassy in Guyana and then in Toronto until retirement. Doris loved travelling the world with Denny and socializing and entertaining with friends and family for any occasion. The family would like to thank the caring professional caregivers of Gibson Long Term Care as well as the nurses and doctors at North York General Hospital. Friends may call the HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME, Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Ave. E. (west of Warden Ave.), on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 21 Leith Hill Rd., on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Our condolences to Wanda, Warner, Ingrid and the rest of the Family. We will certainly miss Aunty Doris. Her smile and the wonderful conversations she would carry on with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Des and I are sorry to hear of Doris passing. Doris was such a wonderful mother and we are thankful to have celebrated her special birthday with her at the Keg Steakhouse.
