WILLOUGHBY, Doris Ilean (nee HOLLINSHEAD) Doris passed away peacefully, at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Beloved mother of Paul and Cathy and grandmother of Michael. "Aunt Doris" will be sadly missed by Bonnie and Denis Mooney and family. Doris was born October 31, 1923 to Ernest and Mabel Hollinshead in Kinghorn, ON. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Kinghorn and graduated from Aurora High School. After secretarial school she worked at various clerking jobs including many years at King City Hydro. She met and married William (Bill) Willoughby who worked for the Canadian National Railroad in King. In 1951, they welcomed their only son, William Paul. Predeceased by Bill in 1999 and sister Zelta Sullivan in 2000, Doris moved to Richmond Hill. A founding member of the King Township Historical Society, she had a vast knowledge of the history of King which she was always willing to share. She was also very involved with the Women's Institute and the Presbyterian Church wherever she lived. Thanks to the staff of Richmond Hill Retirement Residence for their kindness. Thanks to the staff at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital for easing Doris' last days. Visitation for Doris will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8. Funeral Service to follow in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, at 11 a.m. Reception preceding the interment at King City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory made to Sharon Burying Ground Association, c/o 1080 Meadow Lane, Newmarket, ON L3Y 7C7, would be appreciated.
