Dorothy COPELAND Obituary

COPELAND, Dorothy (nee Walker) - On September 25, 2014 surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy left this earth and was reunited in heaven with her husband George. Married for 64 years, they were the proud parents of Pala (Al Link), Val (Michael Stubitsch), Steve (Patricia), Patti (Dave Muir) and the late Donna (Jeff Davies). An inspirational matriarch to 18 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren, "Anya" lived and loved life to the fullest. She will be held dear in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A marvelous organizer, she derived immense satisfaction from her career as assistant to the President of Centennial College. A caring and outgoing woman, she gave happiness to everyone she met while travelling, painting, sailing, volunteering and playing cards. A special thank you to the staff at Scarborough Retirement Residence for their outstanding care of Dorothy in recent weeks. Family and friends will be received at the PINE HILLS CEMETERY & VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave., 416-267-8229), for visitation on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scarborough Retirement Residence or the Church of St. Bede .

To Pala and family, my condolences on the death of your mother. You were my childhood friend at Clairlea Public School. I remember happy visits to your home and you and I preparing a song and dance routine for the school assembly! We lived on Bassett Ave. at the time. We are all at the age where our parents are going and we are now at the frontlines. Best wishes to you all.
