A life-long friend who will be missed very much. We searched him out at every Kap reunion and at every Kapster's luncheon...and found him every time.
It will not ne the same without him.

I can't say English was every my 'favourite' class but it is certainly a testament to the type of teacher Mr. Walker was, for I certainly looked forward to his classes. He engaged his students and brightened up our day with his infectious laugh. He was a kind a gentle man. RIP Mr Walker.

Random conversations about anything with Doug were always enlightening and informing, he was always knowledgeable on many subjects and was a great listener as well with a heck of a sense of humour - I realised quickly he was the smartest guy in the room. One last time for you Doug - Go Packers

So sad to hear of Doug's passing. He was a playmate of mine before we went to school along with Mike Brousseau, John McSweeney, Ian McTavish, Tom Robinson and others. Had great times at Remi Lake when we were teens. Rest in peace good friend.

Small world...until I read these messages of Mr. Walker, I had no idea he was from the Kap...my brother taught up in nearby Hearst when I attended Harbord C.I. His teaching style kept me engaged as a student as I was a dreamer & a wanderer with distractions. We will all miss him dearly.

What sad news, Doug's passing. We have many happy memories of our escapades in Diamond Jubilee Public School and Kap District High. We'll raise a glass to his memory at Kapsters reunion lunches.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Walker's family. As a student at HCI, going from class to class at times could be such a chore but when you had Mr. Walker the next period, walking into class was easy because you knew it was going to be fun. He was such a caring and talented teacher. So sad to hear of his passing.

Still remember your English class, takes a great teacher to leave a lasting impression. Graduated from Harbord over 20 years ago and still remember you-may you rest in peace and many blessings to your family.

Doug will be so missed.
I taught with Doug in the English Department of Harbord Collegiate for 28 years. He was in Room 209 and I was in room 210. Doug was such a professional and responsible teacher. But more than that he was the nicest most decent man you could ever know.

My deepest condolences to Doug's family. Doug was much valued as a teacher and colleague in the English Department at Harbord Collegiate. He was a wonderful teacher who spent endless hours painstakingly replying to his students' journals and taught his classes with rigour and his special brand of humour. Many students and staff will remember an intriguing course he developed, called "Fact, Fiction and Fantasy."
It was always great to meet Doug in the hallway or English Office where his keen observations and sense of humour were guaranteed to take the stress out of a busy day. Doug will always be remembered for his dedication to education and his friendship.
With much sympathy,
Vicky Armanios, English Department, HCI (1990's)

I cannot take credit for this, but it sums up how I feel.
As students, many teachers and educators will pass through our lives without remembrance. Yet, a special few will leave a lasting impression. Thank you for being one of the special educators who will live on forever in the minds and hearts of the students whose live you have touched.
Thank you for making my English classes at Harbord, so enjoyable. Mr. Walker RIP.
My sincerest condolences to the family.
