Douglas CHAMBERS Obituary

CHAMBERS, Douglas Cameron It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Doug with family by his side on December 30, 2019, at the age of 72. He was predeceased by his parents Jean Mildred Cameron (Chambers) and Harry Chambers and his faithful companion Lily. He is survived by his siblings Carol, Donna, Paul, Susan, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. Doug also leaves many friends and family in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Doug had spent many years living abroad in Australia, England and South Africa. He had traveled the World extensively and numerous times. He was a history buff, avid reader, talented writer, animator and cartoonist, old film connoisseur, wrestling fan, trivia master and our walking encyclopedia. He had worked for Hanna-Barbera, National Film Board and was a retiree of the Toronto Police Service. Many thanks to the Wellington Retirement Home and the Village of Wentworth Heights for their care and compassion. Thank you to Ron Hutchison for giving Doug the opportunity to be a proud contributor to his latest published book. Isle Beyond The Sea Where wild winds ne'er held revelry, But fulfilled are the balmy skies With spicy gales from Paradise; These gales that waft the scent of flowers That fade not and the sunny hours Speed on, nor night, nor shadow know. Following Doug's request, there will be no visitation or service and cremation has taken place. We were blessed to have you in our lives. You shall never be forgotten. It's been one year since you've been gone, and even longer since I saw you last. I think of you every single day, and I miss you with all my heart. I wish we could have had one last conversation, but that is something I will just have to live with. I hope you are resting easy and having a painless stay amongst the stars in heaven. Tonight we are having swiss chalet dinner in your honor, and will get your favorite ice cream sundae with your cherry on top. I love you forever and always and miss you more than words can say. ❤

Missing you is a hurt that will never subside. I will forever keep safe in my heart all of the good times we shared together, just you and I. You were always my rock in life, someone I could talk to about anything, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were always on my side, giving me the best advice, or just simply listening, or cheering me up when I was down. I always felt better after a conversation with you. I will cherish our memories forever, from lunch and dinner dates(swiss chalet- ribs for you and never without a chocolate sunday, cherry on top for dessert❤), to grocery shopping trips, to just hanging out chatting and bonding about everything and anything; allowing me to take in your knowledge in amazement. You were truly one of a kind, and there never will be another like you. You were the most gentle, sweetest, loyal friend and uncle. You were a loving and giving soul. You cared for every animal you came in contact with, especially the kitties, even putting them before yourself. You were a true inspiration. I will always remember and hold dear the last words we said to each other. I love you so very, very much. Missing you and thinking of you every single day. Thank you for being in my life. ❤

I knew Doug way back in the 90's when he lived on St Clair. He was a hilarious story teller and all around good guy. We missed him when he moved to Hamilton.

I'll never forget my cherished friend Doug. Over the course of almost four decades we have had so many wonderful times and memories together. It was a pleasure to know you sir and to call you my best friend. Until we meet again may you rest in peace and please say hello to my mom and dad up there and assure them, as you've done so many times in the past while I was on the road, that I am doing okay down here.

Thank you for your friendship, your knowledge and always being there to lend an ear. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
