Douglas DUNLOP Obituary

DUNLOP, Douglas Weir - 1934 to 2013 Doug passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 26, 2013 due to complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). His gentle soul and thoughtfulness will be greatly missed by his nephew Doug and his wife Barb, his niece Stephanie and her husband Doug and his sister- in-law Marilyn. He will also be dearly missed by his extended family and friends and who live across North America and Europe. He is predeceased by his father Bert, his mother Eudora and his brother Peter. Doug was born and grew up in Toronto, but moved to Calgary to finish High School after which he joined the RCAF. He became a Flying Officer and flew T-33 and CF-100 fighter jets protecting Canadian airspace from 1955 to 1961. He next trained to be a helicopter pilot logging hours as a bush pilot for Spartan in the Northwest Territories, a traffic report pilot for CHFI in Toronto and then became a co-founder/ co-owner of Toronto Helicopters and their chief flying instructor where he trained many pilots to fly. His 3rd career took him to Vancouver to start a new branch office of F&E Cheque Protectors. In retirement he enjoyed life in his beloved Harrison Hot Springs and annual trips to Puerto Vallarta which he photographed discerningly and shared on his popular web site, members.shaw.ca/harrisonhotsprings Donations in Doug's memory can be made to Plan Canada in lieu of flowers.
