Douglas WESTOVER Obituary

WESTOVER, P. ENG., Douglas Fredrick It is with immense sadness that we, Doug's family, announce his passing on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Dad passed peacefully in his sleep after a Christmas full of family and love. A Celebration of Life will be held during golf season 2021 - just as he would have wanted.

We are so sad to hear that Doug passed away. When we moved to our street, he was one of the first friendly faces to welcome us and many friendly get-togethers followed over the years. Our heart-felt condolences to the whole family.

I new Doug from the days of playing ball hockey, outdoor pickup and league hockey. Doug was always great to share a few laughs with before and after the game over a beer. Very sorry and saddened to hear of of this loss. Please accept my condolences.

I will miss Doug. He was a very good friend.

I met Doug at golf tournament hosted by Blue Springs Men’s night. Right away, he made me feel special.

For few years, after that first meeting, we played golf at least four times a week, as part of our regular foursome. He had a wry sense of humor and nothing bothered Doug. He always made you feel good and would help out, anyway he could. Truly a good friend.

One time, I gave him some outdoor planter containers after he delivered only one of two bottles of Crown Royal and claimed that the second bottle was in the car -- it wasn't. Actually, he found it when he got home. Plastic planters for liquor. That would make Doug laugh, if he was still with us!

We had lively conversation talking about the Maple Leafs, since we were both Leaf fans!

Doug was so much looking forward to playing golf with his new set of clubs!

He talked about what a wonderful family he had; How Melissa had started her own muffin online store; How pleased he was to help out his son to buy a new home just before he passed away, when I last spoke to him on Sunday, December 13th.

May he rest in peace, knowing we all cared about him. I will truly miss him.

I played a lot of golf with Doug over the last two years. He was a fabulous golfer. I will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Doug was a great guy, I’ve known him through hockey for many years. We have been to hockey tournaments and NHL games with our friend Rick. I’ve bumped into him on the ski hill which I know he enjoyed with his kids!! He loved the game of golf, often quoting all the rules we were breaking!! He had a nickname for me, he called me Lynner!! He had a great smile and a hardy laugh. We laughed a lot after a hockey game win or lose. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I always enjoyed Doug's company on the golf course! That wry smile of his and the seemingly innocent comments made after someone hit a poor shot will not be forgotten! The stories of his days at York Memorial will be missed! A good man! Sliante!!
