Dear Vicky,
It was quite a shock when I came across Ed's obituary just today. Our deepest condolences to you and the family. Ed and I were good friends during our public and high school years and kept in touch after we went our separate ways after University. I always tried to visit with him during the few times that I was in Canada when I was studying and then working overseas. It was always great to reminice about old times playing on the high school basketball team. He will be greatly missed by us all.

I did my final law school moot in front of Justice Belobaba. At a reception afterwards I had the pleasure of meeting him and I will never forget how wonderful he was to me and my dad (who had come watch the moot). He found out that I had just had my first child and my dad's first grandchild and practically gave us hugs telling my dad how he must be such proud papa. Will never forget that moment. What a great man.

I'm so glad we were able to arrange such a nice weekend with you and Ed at our cottage last year. We had so much fun and Ed was so healthy at that time. We'll always remember the laughs, good food and walks we had. Such a wonderful man and he'll be missed by all. Love Gwen and David

Dear Vicki : It is with the greatest sadness that I read about Ed´s passing. He was a true "gentleman and scholar" and a brilliant legal mind. It is both a tremendous loss for your family and the legal community. I have so many fond memories of Ed being one of Ron´s law school roommates in that townhouse they shared off campus. I also remember how smitten he was with you and so very excited to introduce "Miss Vicki" to his law school gang. I have followed his career and legal decisions with great interest!
Ed was also a groom at our wedding (see photo). This Mother´s Fay May 14 will be the 23rd year of Rons passing. May the memories of Ed and your children and grandchildren comfort you in your loss forever.

Justice Belobaba presided over my client´s case involving a hostile inter generational family dispute over ownership to a highly successful business. Throughout the 2+ years of court proceedings: many motions, case conferences and trial dates, Justice Belobaba impressed everyone with his sensitive handling of the issues involved; the patience and care he demonstrated to the people involved, one of which was an elderly man; the guidance he offered to counsel. Would that all judges take a page from his book. You will be sorely missed, Justice Belobaba.

My sincere condolences. So sad. RIP. May his memory be a blessing. I remember when he walked in a bit late and in blue jeans ahead of his time to my my first law school class & his first teaching class in 1975 & the women in the room gasped aloud as if he were a rock star - which he was! He should have been on the Court of Appeal or even t he SCC. He was very kind and helpful to me during that first term in law school. He was an inspiration and, indeed, a legal and human superstar!
