CASE, ELIZABETH AGNES (nee BUTT) July 17, 1928 – January 10, 2022 Elizabeth (Betty) Case passed away peacefully, in her 94th year, at her home, on Monday, January 10, 2022, with her children by her side. Loving wife of the late Gordon Case. Devoted mother of Glenn (Cathy) of Port Hope, Brian (Lise) of Sunderland and Cathy (Brian Lee) of Markham. Loving Nini of Jennifer (Aaron), Andrew (Danielle), Candice (Steve), Janice, Chantalle (Jeff) and Christopher (Frances). Proud great-grandmother of Benjamin, Mackenzie, Nathan, Justin, Easton, Aiden, Madison, Jake, Cate and Maren. Dear sister of the late Grace and Joyce. Betty's 93 years were filled with unforgettable times with family and friends and her 4- legged constant companion Lacey will surely miss her like we all will. Betty's faith was always with her from an early age, which connected her with being a respected member of Grace Church Markham. Her passion for painting came in her late teens when she started with oils and over the years dipped her brush in all mediums and can be seen on the walls of her home and loved ones who are lucky enough to have E.A. Butt or E.A. Case on their walls. Her sketch pad would travel with her wherever she got to from island excursions with Gord and friends to travels in Europe making lasting memories she shared with all who wanted to take it in. Resident of Markham for over 55 years, formerly Toronto, she loved supporting causes close to her heart which included people and animals in need. Her navigation in life was something to behold as Betty always made time for those around her in fun ways with her quick hand in a card game from Marathon Bridge to cribbage at the cottage. She had a way of dispensing sage advice in all facets of life including her keen green thumb. Betty had a joyous laugh and quick wit. Her Saturdays included the Star's Crossword and if a comic was worthy of her approval, it would be found on the fridge or a kitchen cupboard. She will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and mentoring. "She was ready to go but we weren't ready to let her go." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following charities Betty was fond of supporting: Cancer Research Society, Grace Anglican Church Markham, Sick Kids, SPCA, The Scott Mission and Covenant House. Due to public health guidelines the funeral service will be on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm, by invitation only. There will be no visitation at this time but a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date when public health guidelines allow.
