This is today only i discover Emily is no longer here. I was following her from time to time, reading some news about theatre, care, support of others. I was remembering her kindness and her smile. Her long stay in Nantes was a wonderful period of time. She will be missed here too.

My express condolences to Emily's family.

We worked together for two years at Dalhousie on the student paper, the Gazette. We saw each other once or twice afterwards in Toronto for lunch, as I was passing through.

She was a sunflower, bright and warm, arsty and fun, kind and witty.

I'm saddened by her passing, and for the empty space it leaves in our circle of friends.

My deepest condolences to Emily's family and friends.
Emily and I first met at the Dalhousie Gazette, back in 1992. She was funny, smart, goofy, artistic and edgy. She loved to dance.
After losing touch with each other for several years, we reconnected a few years ago and I'm so grateful for that. We emailed and visited each other in Toronto and Ottawa. She even put up with my lumpy couch for a couple of weekend without complaint.
Emily was creative and brave and a very good friend. And I can't believe she is gone.
I'm very sorry that I missed Emily's funeral, but I will be at her Memorial Service on Thursday.

Emily was such a genuine presence and i loved her laughter. We worked together off and on for several years on the night team in a social service agency. She seemed to lend her passion to so many creative endeavours. I remember she listened with great care and attentiveness to young people in their difficult times. Thinking of Emily.

I am so sorry to hear about Emily's passing. My sincerest condolences to her family, friends and community. She was a warm soul and I will miss her. We worked together for about three years and afterwards she continued to keep in touch with me. She would send me cards and kind thoughts, right up to a few days before she so suddenly left us. She was always very kind, and may she always be at peace.

I'm completely stunned and saddened. I came to know Emily at the Village Playhouse where she was did amazing, but often unheralded work in the sound booth. She was a gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humour and was just an all-around great person. Thoughts go out to her parents and family.

So shocked to hear of Emily's passing. We served together on a Playreading Committee for a local Toronto Theatre company. Her take on the plays we read (and the world-view they invariably address) was always intelligent, insightful, honest and witty. A lovely person with a twinkling sense of the absurd. So sorry for the sadness her loss will cause those close to her. Jane Hunter, (Toronto).

I was so saddened to hear of Emily's sudden passing. I was just getting to know her at Trinity St. Pauls' United Church where we were both members of the Indigenous Solidarity Rights group. Emily and I spent a fun day volunteering at a Pow Wow at Fort York last June. I felt instantly connected to her warmth, open presence and kindness. She will be missed by so many people.

I am so sorry to hear of Emily's death. She was a treasure. She was a volunteer visitor when my husband was in palliative care and used her skills as he crafted two writing projects. We also knew Emily through Trinity St. Pauls' United Church, where she was a faithful part of the congregation. We will miss her. Lynne Brennan

Memories of Emily - an adorable infant,a fun loving 4 year old as our flower girl, and a sleepover which convinced us we wanted to become parents. She was often a playmate and as a teenager she was "the cool cousin" for our daughters as she wore hats and introduced them to David Bowie. Though we lost touch in adulthood we followed her accomplishments and knew she became a caring and creative person who used her talents and language skills to help others. Repose en paix Emily! Eric and Paul, and Liz and Bill: my memory of Emily is of the slip of a younger sister that you twins had - in person the few times I was at the Tutor Houses, and in my mind in that way we all talked about and envisioned each other's families, as that close bunch of kids we were at Northdale School.

I'm warmed to read here about what a lovely and dedicated person she became, and I send my heartfelt condolences to all of you at losing her so soon.

This is a terrible loss to me personally. I've known Emily for 4 years when we volunteered together at the Archives. We became friends instantly. We loved listening to Neil Young albums as we did the archiving. She had a great sense of humour and whenever we were together we were laughing. I was totally shocked at her death. I had sent her two emails last week about getting together before Christmas like we usually do. I had a present to give her. Emily was the biggest supporter of my writing and my photography. She took the photograph of me that I used as my author photo for my Bookthug chapbook. I can't imagine not seeing her again and getting her emails. I know how highly she spoke of her family. I hope I get to hear from her parents and your in my thoughts as I struggle through these days.
