ENA (EUGENIE CONSTANCE GALL) HARRISON In her 100th year Passed away peacefully at Centennial Place in Millbrook on Sunday, July 12, 2015. She was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon and by many friends and relatives who didn't make it to 100. Ena leaves behind her daughter Marnie Worboy and son-in-law Ron Worboy, her daughter Adele Harrison and partner Peg Bernhardt, as well as grandchildren Adam Worboy, Martha Worboy (Matthew Fortier), Kristen Worboy and Meredith Worboy (James Kent) and great-grandchildren Kieran and George Fortier and Arabella Kent. Ena (nee Eugenie Constance Gall) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Campbell Gall and Marian Macfarlane. After the untimely death of her father in France fighting for Britain in World War I as a Captain in the Queen's Own Scottish Highlanders, Ena and her mother immigrated to Canada, settling in The Beaches area of Toronto. Here Ena learned to play tennis, canoe and sail and made lifelong friends. After graduating from Malvern Collegiate Institute she attended Toronto Secretarial College, then worked for SKF Canada as assistant to the president. Ena and Gord met at a resort on Sparrow Lake in Muskoka, where Ena was vacationing and Gord was camping nearby with some buddies. They fell in love and were married in Toronto in 1941. Several years later they moved to Peterborough, where Ena was a stay-at-home mom while her daughters grew up. She volunteered extensively in the community, curled, golfed, played tennis and bridge, painted and created hand-hooked hangings of her own design. As a couple they had many dear and close friends and enjoyed a busy and fun-filled social life, both in Peterborough and at their summer cottage on Clear Lake. After Gord's retirement they travelled extensively to all parts of the world, had great fun with their grandchildren and enjoyed wintering in warm climates. Ena was well known as a beautiful woman. She was constantly kind and generous, strong physically, emotionally and morally, smart, a great hostess and creative. She was a great role model to her grandchildren, with whom she played tennis into her eighties. A Memorial Service will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 3 p.m., with visitation from 1 - 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Sunrise Youth Group, Whitby. www.northcuttelliott.com
