I so enjoyed meeting Professor Sirluck at the Toronto Milton Seminar: he was gracious and warm in conversation and then a prompt correspondent. He was a real scholar and as an administrator a major contributor to Ontario (and hence Canadian) universities. He set high standards for us all.

I am deeply saddened to learn that Ernest is no longer with us and mourn his passing. He will be very much missed at the Arts & Letters Literary Table where he was greatly admired and respected. Sincere condolences to Kate and Robert who were much loved by both parents.

When I first joined the Arts & Letters Club, Ernest was one of the first people to chat with me and he was always there when I made presentations and on one occasion said, "If I hadn't checked up on a few things I'd be giving you the title Baron Muchhausen of the Arts and Letters Club."
I'll truly miss him!
