Felicitas Lontoc Obituary

FELICITAS (CHITA) LONTOC (nee Babaran) After a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), Chita, 55, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 1, 2008. Born on February 20, 1952 to Nicanor and Emma Babaran, she came to Canada in 1974 from the Philippines. Loving wife of 31 years to Vicente, beloved mother to Jayme, 28, and Raymond, 21, and beloved sister to Nenita, Kathlyn and Isaac, Chita said the love of her family and friends, and her Catholic faith strengthened her. A dedicated community volunteer, and Bank of Montreal employee (32 years), Chita helped inner city youths of the champion Roadrunners basketball team. She organized a fundraiser last February for ALS research: You create the attitude of living till you die. Chita inspired others to help fight ALS after she was featured in a Toronto Star article in September. Visitation is on Saturday and Sunday, January 5 and 6, from 5-9 p.m. at Highland Funeral Home (northwest corner of Sheppard East and Warden). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 Morrish Road, Scarborough, at 11 a.m. Interment Christ the King Cemetery, Steeles and Reesor Road.
