Frances Longo Obituary

FRANCES LONGO (GARGOTTA) It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Frances Longo, 77 years on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. She was a woman of grace and dignity. Beloved wife of the late Joseph and cherished mother of Joseph and Dina, Sally-Rose and Barry, Maryanne and Tony, Cathy and Frank. Proud and devoted Nana to Robert, Christina, Philip, David, Diana, Joanna, Jakob, Julia, Alexander and Jaime. Loving sister of the late Anna Marie Nigro and Mary. Survived by sister-in-law Mary Longo and brothers-in-law Sam Battaglia and Tony Nigro. A special 'Aunt Frances' and doting 'Zia Frannie' to numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was an extremely active member of All Saints Parish and the community. Frances was a faithful friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune of meeting her. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Toronto Western Hospital Neurology Unit for their tender care of Mom. To Joe & Dina, Sally & Barry, Maryanne & Tony, Cathy & Frank ...and grandchildren,

Though your Mom/Nonna was our cousin, because of the age difference, she was very much like an aunt to us; and, a very warm and caring one at that.

We always looked forward to visits with her and your late Dad, who was also really special to us. We will miss your Mom greatly, just as we have missed your Dad, all these years.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

May God comfort and bless you all!

To the Longo 'clan' and their families,
I will always cherish Auntie Frances. She was a very caring, wonderful woman with a warm smile. She always had such wonderful things to say. My memories of us growing up together - the Pirri's and the Longo's - was a special time back in the day.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to be there with you - I am going with my school to a business competition in Orlando.
I shall remember Auntie Frances in my prayers. My condolences to all of you and your families.

I first met Frances when she was the Parish representative and I was the teacher rep on the St. Eugene CSAC. She always had a smile on her face and kind words to say. She was thoroughly dedicated to her role. She attended many school functions; such as, First Communion and Confirmation celebrations, school liturgies and school plays. Frances was a kind and loving person who will be missed. My deepest condolences to her family. God bless her and may she rest in peace.

Dearest Frances
It is with such great sadness and sorrow that Peter and I heard about your sudden departure from this earth for your Heavenly Home. We have such cherished memories of our special friendship with Joe and you and subsequently with you Frances, when you joined us as a volunteer and Team Leader when we brought the Rosary Apostolate to our Parish Schools. We had such a great time together and we have so many pictures of those happy times together. You became a "family" member to us and we were so blessed to share that special day in November with you - your birthday and our Wedding Anniversary, and we shall miss celebrating it with you as we did all these years. We also remember the times we spent with you on Pilgrimages lead by Fr. Vito both locally and to Lourdes, Fatima, and the Shrines in Italy. We then developed even an inner circle with Carmen, Teresa, Mary S., some others, you and ourselves, when we went for lunch and coffee regulary and the fun and laughs we had together. I shall never forget the personal sharing of experiences and the words of wisdom you inherited from your mum that you shared with me. We shall never forget seeing you greeting everyone with that smile you always had, at various events at our Church and give thanks to God for the gift we shared of serving the Lord in our different ways. We will always feel your presence Frances that will help us continue on our journey on this earth and thank you for your love and friendship. Until we meet again in our Eternal Home, when there will be so much rejoicing, take a well-deserved rest in peace Frances, and know that we are praying for your family whom you loved so much as they go through this most difficult time.
You will be in our hearts forever.

With love, prayers and thanks.

Aunt Frances; the epitome of generosity and delight. A woman who will be forever remembered, and missed by all.

As I got a littler older, I had some unforgetable conversations with my Aunt. I am happy to have gotten to know her, and to appreciate the gifts she offered us all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Frances
Both Peter and I were so shocked and saddened to hear about your sudden departure from this earth for your Heavenly Home. We had seen you on Palm Sunday at Church at the 11 a.m. Mass and I had called you on Tuesday and left you a message not knowing that you were in the hospital. What wonderful memories we have of you and Joe and our special friendship with both of you. You then became like a family member to us and our most beautiful time together when you joined us with the Rosary Apostolate in the Schools we brought to our Parish Schools was so special and a tremendous blessing to us all. We have such vivid memories and pictures of such happy times together. We were also privileged to be with you traveling on several pilgrimages lead by Fr. Vito, both locally and the ones to Lourdes, Fatima and the Shrines in Italy. We surely had such a great time together. We had also developed an inner circle with Carmen, Teresa, Mary S., etc., and our get-togethers for lunch and coffee were filled with fun and laughter. I shall never forget the things we shared, especially the very personal ones, and the words of wisdom that you inherited and shared with me. This world and our Parish of All Saints will never be the same without you. We love you Frances and will miss you more than you ever know and especially on that special day in November which we shared - your birthday and our Wedding Anniversary, which gave us such a special bond with each other and we will certainly miss celebrating together with you on that day. We will however feel your presence and see your smile which will give us courage as we continue our earthly lives here serving and praising the Lord and in thanks for placing you in our lives. Until that glorious day when we will be united with you in our Eternal Home Frances, when we will have such rejoicing, take a well-deserved rest in peace. We will never forget you and you will remain in our hearts forever.
We pray for your family whom you loved so much as they go through this difficult time.
Love, prayers and thanks.

Dear Maryanne, Tony, Diana, and Julia,

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this very difficult time. We had the pleasure of getting to know your wonderful mother/Nana over the years as she visited you. She always stopped to say hello or chat briefly. Mrs. Longo ended each conversation so beautifully...."take care dear". We will all miss seeing her and her lovely smile.
