Francis Quail Obituary

FRANCIS JAMES QUAIL After a brief illness, Jim passed away peacefully, in his 91st year, at Southlake Hospital, Newmarket on Friday, September 18, 2009. He was the dearly beloved husband of Adele (nee Lane) for 60 years; adored father of Mary Redekopp (Albert), Jim (Carmela), Peter (Costanza), and Rob (Kathryn); dear grandfather of Matthew Redekopp (Jeni), Sarah Gross (Jonathan), Martina (Derek Boyd) and Susanna Quail, Daniela and Luis Quail, Laura and Mitchell Quail, Meg and Jack Dangerfield; proud great-grandpa of Caelan and Rhyanna Redekopp. He was predeceased by his brother John and sisters Betty Quail and Mildred Patterson. Born in Winnipeg, Jim moved with his family to Windsor, Ontario, and later to Toronto. He graduated from the University of Toronto with an MASc (1946) and was employed by CGE and the Canadian Standards Association. His family was the centre of his life, and he shared with them and his many friends an enthusiasm for cottaging, fishing, golf, music, woodworking, art and bridge. His ready smile, quick wit, genuine warmth and joyful outlook will be missed by many. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 524 Davis Dr., Newmarket, ON. (905-898-2100), on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SickKids Foundation.
