Freda THOMAS Obituary

THOMAS, Freda While surrounded by love, Freda Thomas (Corps) passed away peacefully at Canterbury Gardens, in Peterborough, on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the age of 91. Freda was born in Toronto (Cabbagetown) on March 14, 1931. Daughter of James and Annie Corps (McKinnon), predeceased. Beloved wife and best friend of Donald Thomas (predeceased). Loving mother of Michael (Pat), Donna, Carol Ann (Bill), Stephen (predeceased), and a "neighbour's child," Lynn Lebel (Davis). Grandma/G.G. will be missed by her grandchildren, Melissa (Mark), Kristin (Cory), Ashleigh (Clint), Jarrett (Jessica), Jeff, Lisa, Matthew (Tara), Caitlin (Adam), David (Diana), Jesse (Leanne), Jaime (Joe), and her 20 great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by her sister, Elizabeth (Ken, predeceased), and her sisters-in-law, Joy and Helen. Predeceased by her sisters, Flo and Kay, and her brothers, John and Art, along with their spouses and all the Thomas brothers and their wives. A "special" Aunt to many nieces, nephews and their children. Also remembered as an honorary "mom" to many of her own children's friends. Throughout her life, Freda was always willing to lend a hand, listen and offer advice or encouragement when needed. We are so grateful for Dr. Becca Webster (Palliative Care) who guided not only mom but the entire family through mom's final journey of life. Canterbury Gardens staff will always be in our hearts for the care, support and love that they provided to our Mother over the past ten years. Funeral Prayers will be held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough, on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. At the family's request, guests are recommended to have COVID-19 vaccinations. Mike, Donna and Cat...We are so very sad to hear of the passing of such a wonderful lady that you were lucky enough to call Mom. Such a beautiful, strong, kind, loving woman. She was so kind to me every summer when I took Matt and Michelle over for a mid-week visit - just the 3 of us and your Mom and Dad. Don't be afraid to shed tears for your Mom. She is worthy of them. I am at a loss without my amazing sister. Freda you meant the world to me & my family. I will miss our long distance talks when nobody could hold of either us.
