Frederick Farr Obituary

FARR, Frederick Harvey (Tom) - With great sadness and much love we announce the passing of Frederick Harvey (Tom) Farr on April 8, 2011 just shy of his 90th birthday. He leaves a legacy of humour, honour, grace and charm to his daughters Dale and Kim (Jack Stephen); his grandchildren Craig (Valerie Gagnon) and Tiffany (Dave Mason); his great-grandchildren Natalie, Luke and Olivia and his good friend Stewart Park. Born and raised in Toronto he achieved his boyhood ambition of learning to fly and was a proud RCAF WWII Veteran. During his training and while stationed in Alberta he met and married Paula Couillard. After the war, they settled in Toronto and Tom moved into the advertising business, eventually becoming a partner with H. & S. Reliance. Tom was an accomplished story-teller, artist and craftsman whose talents remained mostly hidden beyond his family and friends. He knew thousands of jokes (mostly good, but often offside) and he would rarely miss the opportunity to use his cunning wit with friends and strangers alike. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing at Scarboro Golf & Country Club with his lifelong friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at the Scarborough Retirement Centre and in the end at the Trilogy Long Term Care Centre, who took such good care of him. He will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have had him touch their lives.

Hi Kim and Dale:
It was with great sadness that we learned the death of your wonderful father. He had many friends at the centre and we have many fond memories of Tom while he made Scarborough Retirement Centre his home. He was a true gentleman. He regaled us often with his jokes and stories and we always enjoyed his laughter. He left a real legacy of a loved gentleman at SRC and will always be fondly remembered by all the staff and residents.
Our sincerest condolences to the family.

To the family of Tom Farr - I was so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have such great memories of Tom as he came into the offices of Coca-Cola Ltd. to conduct business with our marketing people. I was the receptionist there for many years, and the visitors became friends to me. And Tom became a friend. He was the most distinguished of my visitors, always soft spoken but always with a smile. I am glad to have this opportunity to let you know of my association with him. He was a great guy.
My sincerest condolences to all of you.

Hello Kim, Dale...
I'm sorry we've never met, but I did want to say how much I enjoyed 'working' with your father when I was at Coca-Cola Ltd. and after he retired. Tom and I shared a name, as well as a passion for things printed and digital, which is why he asked me to scan some of his artwork and make greeting cards for him. He loved being creative. He'll be missed, but I do have nice memories and photographs of him. No doubt you do as well.

Kim & Dale. Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. It sounds as though he lived a great life. I'm sure you'll have many good memories of your mom & dad to help ease the pain of his death.
