Gail WILSON Obituary

WILSON, Gail Elsa It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Wilson. She passed away peacefully at Ajax-Pickering Hospital on August 10, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. Gail was the only child of William and Muriel Wilson (née Agassiz). She was born on March 11, 1939 and grew up in east Toronto before moving to Frenchman's Bay in Pickering. Gail attended Malvern Collegiate Institute and Toronto Teachers' College. She became an elementary school teacher, first in White River, and then was hired by the Scarborough Board of Education, later the Toronto District School Board. Heartfelt thanks go to these neighbours who made it possible for Gail to stay in her home during her illnesses: Helen, Gail, Reza, Zerah, Yasmin, Paula, John, Michael and Brad. Many nurses and caregivers including Janet, Holly, Michelle and Jaime worked hard to keep her well and comfortable. Gail will be missed by her large group of friends especially Evelyn, Caron, Sandra, Lori, John, Pat, Lisa and Charlie. She will be fondly remembered by her many cousins from the Wilson and Agassiz families. Thanks to the staff at Ajax-Pickering Hospital who cared for her on several occasions during her illnesses. Gail's friends and neighbours are dedicating a park bench in her name. Contributions will be welcomed. Information will be available at the memorial. A Celebration of Gail's life will be held on Thursday, August 31st. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 2700 Kingston Road, Scarborough at 11:00 a.m., followed by a buffet lunch at 12:30 p.m. at The Lake House Restaurant at 600 Liverpool Road, Pickering. Lunch RSVP by August 28th at: [email protected]

As your next door neighbour for the last 17 years, you were not only a good friend to me but also to Reza and our girls, Zarah & Yasmine. They say it takes a village to raise a family and you were a huge part of that for ours. Thank you for all of your advice over the years, the laughter when we sat and talked and your love for animals. We will miss you very much. It is hard to look out our window and see your place in darkness. But I believe we will see each other again someday so in the meantime, keep Chyna & Si close!
