GALE MARIE DAVIS

GALE MARIE DAVIS Passed away on October 14, 2015 at Sunnybrook Hospital in her 70th year. Our family would like to thank the palliative care team for the care and respect mom received during her time in the hospital. She won her first battle with stage 4 cancer 7½ years ago. A wished-for second miracle was not possible, but she fought to the end. Lovingly remembered by husband Tom, daughter Susan Ritchie (Marcus) and son Evan Davis. She is also survived by her mother Janet Evans and brother Blair Evans. She will be greatly missed by her two grandchildren Jillian and Ethan Ritchie, as well as many more relatives and friends. Born in England to her war bride mother and Canadian soldier father Jack Evans (deceased 1974), Gale came to Canada when she was 9 months old. She worked for many years as a Medical Secretary at the Canada Life Assurance Company, leaving in 1977 to become a full-time mom. She later filled some of her time working at Lester B. Pearson School in North York. She was a lover of animals and they seemed to take a special liking to her too. She enjoyed things rustic rather than fancy, casual rather than formal. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was an avid swimmer. Her favourite place on earth was the family cottage near Parry Sound, where her love of nature was sparked as a little girl. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Gale's family will casually receive friends and relatives at a Celebration of Life, to be held at Edwards Gardens (Garden Hall) at 777 Lawrence Avenue East, from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 1st.
