GARY HINCHCLIFFE Obituary

HINCHCLIFFE, GARY JOHN Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Friday, February 4, 2022, in his 80th year. Gary was a beloved husband to Susan for over 56 years. He was the dear father of David and his wife Jennifer and a devoted "Poppy" to his girls, Tyler and Avery. Gary was the elder brother to Denise and Bob. Gary spent his entire working career with the TD Bank, retiring after 37 years to enjoy a new chapter in his life. Gary was well-known in his Swansea neighbourhood, coaching hockey for 25 years at Rennie Park. He was a very active lifetime member of the Windermere United Church, taking on positions of Sunday School Superintendent and Church Treasurer. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and model train enthusiast. Poppy spent his retirement driving around the neighbourhood, on call for popsicle runs for his granddaughters and their friends. During his retirement, he could be counted on to drop everything and have tea parties, read books, and later play cards with Tyler and Avery. A special thank you to Dr. Peter Derkach and the wonderful staff at West Park Long Term Care, for the excellent care Gary received while a patient there. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (at Windermere, east of the Jane subway), on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 3-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Windermere United Church (356 Windermere Ave.), on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11 a.m. Due to the limitations still in place surrounding COVID-19, space is limited, and all guests must register in advance for both the visitation and funeral Service by visiting: turnerporter.ca/memorials Private interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery If desired, in Gary's memory, please make a donation to the Stone Soup Network (stonesoupnetwork.ca).

Dave and Jen, my deepest condolences on the passing of your lovely father. He was always cheery and kind to the new people in the corner house.

Dave your father and I bonded over a wayward cat named Heathcliffe. I was calling out for the feline escapee when your dad heard me and offered to help search. He thought the cat had a great name because it was nearly the same as his. I'm sure you can hear his chuckle because I still can .

Over the years we would laugh about Heathcliffe & Hinchliffe as he asked about our crazy cat.

It was heartwarming seeing your dad with the girls. The love and adoration was so obviously mutual.

Thinking of you and your families during this difficult time. Sending love and peace, Kelley & Kitty Clan (we lost Heathcliffe in 2013 but the warm memories continue).
