GEOFFREY MINNS

MINNS, GEOFFREY It is with great sadness that the family of Geoffrey Roger Minns announces his passing. Geoff passed at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on June 1st, 2022, with his family by his side. He was 85 years old. Geoff will be greatly missed by his children, Lisa (Gary) and David (Stacy); and his grandchildren, Adam (Tearney), Emma (Zia), Ryan, and Mara. In 1966, Geoff moved to Canada with his wife Joyce, settling in Mississauga. Over a long and highly successful career as an actuary, Geoff eventually rose to become President of Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada. After retiring, Geoff traveled the world with his beloved wife and embraced the snowbird lifestyle, enjoying winters in Florida and regular morning beach walks. Golf was one of Geoff's passions. He was a member at Mississauga Golf and Country Club and Pasadena Yacht and Country Club in Florida. Since he was young, Geoff was a football fan, and always supported his team, Norwich City. Above all else, Geoff appreciated being around others he cared for. He always enjoyed playing host to or visiting his family and friends to catch up on the events of the day. Visitation will be held at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, ON) on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Public visitation will begin at 12 p.m., with a funeral service proceeding at 1 p.m. and a reception following. Geoff was a supporter of finding treatments for individuals with Parkinson's disease. In his honour, donations would be appreciated to Parkinson Canada.
