GEORGE HALAS Obituary

GEORGE WILLIAM HALAS October 2, 1936 - March 28, 2014 With heavy hearts, we let go of the amazing and strong spirit of our husband, father and Papa, George William Halas, to be with the many loved ones that have passed before him. He fought with every ounce of his strength, but never lost his humour, concern for his family or his indomitable spirit. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 53 years, Bunny, his cherished sons Christopher (Teri) and Mikey (Nancy) and precious granddaughters, Julia and Sarah. George went to sleep with a kiss on his lips from his adoring granddaughter, Julia, wishing him a good night and surrounded by the love of his family. Afterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done. A private cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or the Humane Society of your choice.

Bunny, I was so saddened to learn of George's passing. It was only a month ago that he called me to comfort me offer his condolences when Bill passed away. He was so full of hope and his usual upbeat, positive self. Bill and I were very fortunate to have known George, each in our own way. George was one of Bill's favourite golfing buddies at Weston and used to come home laughing about yet another one of George's Confed stories. I have known George since 1972 as we were in the same industry for many decades. Always the gentleman - a delightful man with a love of family and a zest for living. God bless.

Bunny, Mike, Nancy, Chris and family, Chuck and I were so sorry to hear about George. He was such a nice man and such a good father. He always had a smile on his face and a good sense of humour....especially when Mike and his friends (me included) were up to no good ; ) We hope you are able to find some peace in good memories and a life well lived. Sorry we can't be there to offer our support in person. Much love. Chuck and Meredith Rainey

Dear Bunny and family. It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of George. George was a man of great humour and he had the biggest heart, he was someone I have always had a fondness for. He was my first Manager when I started with Confed at the Group Office and he always made me laugh, he will be missed by many. He and Andy will be partying up a storm now. I send you my deepest sympathies. Sincerely, Wendy (Gilliland) Andrews.

Dear Bunny and family, I was sad to hear about George's passing. I remember him well from my Confed days. He was always kind and did his best to make you feel welcome and part of the team. I remember him helping me find my way at my first Company Conference in Puerto Rico many years ago. Bunny, you and George were always so kind to me and I wish you and your family the best at this difficult time. George was a true Gentleman and will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
