George Rees Obituary

George REES

January 21, 1943 - May 31, 2015

George Rees, 72, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 10:32 a.m. with his family by his side at Trillium Health Centre after a well-fought battle. He is remembered by his loving family, wife Marlene, children Shawn and daughter-in-law Donna, Joanne, Dean, Cassie and Austin. Grandfather to Daniel and Stephanie. Great-grandfather to little George. Although he was nicknamed the "Grump," he brought love, life and laughter to everyone he came across. One of the most caring men you could ever meet. He was as stubborn as an ox, but always willing to make you feel like you belonged no matter where you came from. Made the best Newfie dinner across all the Maritime Provinces and always made sure your belly was full. He would welcome you with open arms into his home with a smile on his face. We miss you so much but we will see you again. Go be with your brothers and sisters, Nan and Pop who have gone before you. Drink some beer and have a scoff. We love you. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills" Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga, ON, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Erindale Church (3041 Mississauga Rd.) on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2 p.m. Online condolences may be made through

I was so very sorry to hear of George's passing.. I am his cousin Debbie from Newfoundland and I remember his visit with me when he stayed at my house for a few days with John and Richard on a moose hunting trip. We had so many laughs and it so good to get to know him again. He was so very much like his Dad. May God Bless you all in this sad time and always remember to hold his memories in your hearts forever..
