The loss of Gerald has left a hole in my heart that will never be filled. I take solace in the memories that I have of this man that I was fortunate enough to have as my best friend, my confidante and my brother.
Gretchen, David and Sarah, Gerald loved all of you and was so proud of each of your accomplishments in life.
I've known all of you for so long that I consider you part of my family. Gerald and I always had each other backs, and I still have his back, which means being there for all of you for whatever and whenever you may need me.
Gerald, I miss you dearly and I will see you again one day. I know when it's my time you'll be there waiting and we'll stick a tee in the ground once again.

Mrs. Devlin, Sarah and David:
I remember Mr. Devlin coming to St. Hedwig's to pick up Sarah and David after school.
He was always so pleasant and caring to the staff and students.
You knew he loved his family just by his conversations.
So sorry to hear of his passing.

Mre Devlin and family: Please accept my deepest sympathy on hearing the news Gerald had passed. I had the good fotune to meet him through work and Union business. He was one of the most respected and liked people in our organization. He had such an uncanny knack of spelling out the issues on any Union matter, that I never formed an opinion until hearing his point of view. He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to have known him.

To Gretchen, Sarah and David my sincere condolances. I wish I could think of the words that would make everything all right but I can't. I do know that good people surround themselves with good people. I read the guest book and those good people are a hugh resource for you now. I wish to offer my condolences to Gerald's family. I met Gerald through his involvement with the Ontario Public Service Union. He was what I like to consider an active member, he was interested in doing what he could for his co-workers. I starting with the OPS in 1981 when I was a 17 year old kid and Gerald immediately made me feel like a part of the mailroom crew. Over the years we played baseball together (Gerald could throw the ball like a rocket) and had some good laughs and conversations over those years. When I lived down the road from you Gerald would drop by my place every once and a while and we would watch a baseball or football game. With his easy going demeanor it was easy to like Gerald and he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. Gretchen my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

We just came back from being 'down home' for a week's vacation and I read this awful news. Gretchen, I am so deeply sorry for the loss you, your children and the rest of the family have suffered. It is with great fondness that I think back 30 years to when I first met Gerald and I have felt privlidged to always consider him a friend of mine. The very first time that we took Greg to see a Generals game, Gerald was so great to him. He passed Greg a used puck and you would have thought that it was a million bucks for Greg! That was the kind of person I always found Gerald to be - kind and considerate of others and somebody that everyone loved to be around. I cannot believe that we won't be running into each other in the mall somewhere again. Gretchen, I am sure you have tonnes of family around you at this painful time but if there is anything that Paul or I can do for you or your family please let us know. God Bless.
