KEAY, GERALD ALBERT June 29, 1933 - September 23, 2022 Peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with his daughters by his side. Beloved and loving husband of Win (Deceased July 15, 2012), father of Dianne and Byron; Bill and Marlene; Sheila; Ian; David and Alice; Gerry Jr. and Tammy, grandfather of Rebecca, Jessica and Andrew Madrid; Mieka and Sonja Theil; Matthew and Jason Keay; Sara Rinehart and Joey Letarte; Deanna, Abigail, James David (JD) and Ashlynn Keay; great-grandfather of Sophia Letarte, and loving brother of Ronald Keay (Deceased April 3, 1999). Gerry was dedicated and loved in all he did as an educator, coach, volunteer, and sports enthusiast, but above all as husband to Win, the love of his life, and as a father, family member, and friend to so many. A Celebration of Life is being held at the Burloak Canoe Club at 160 Water St., Oakville, Ontario on Sunday, October 23rd between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at OTMH for the exceptional care and support they provided not only to Gerry but to our entire family. In my role as Business Manager at Blakelock I had many opportunities to work with Gerry on department budgets, along with Principals Larry Zavitz and Ed Miazga. Gerry was a dedicated English Department Head, always doing his best to meet the needs of staff and students. His jovial personality , his coaching and his presence will be remembered by so many. RIP .

I joined the staff of Blakelock in 1971 as Assistant head of mathematics spending 24 years there before retiring. During that time I became Head of mathematics and had gpt to know Gerry well as a friend and through the frequent Head´s meetings in particular where his contributions were always made in a firm and friendly manner. I was a frequent visitor to the school after retiring and after Gerry retired we met at least a couple of times a month at his house for a cup of tea and a chat. I learned a lot about his years with Bell and his art work and enjoyed his sense of humor which was never far removed.
Unfortunately for the last couple of years the pandemic intervened and I had moved from Burlington and was no longer driving so we were reduced to sending cards for special occasions. I held the hope that things would improve but it was not to be. I treasure the memories and look forward to the celebration of his life where his sporting achievements will be noted.
