May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I had the pleasure of being one of his students at WCCI. I know many of his students share the same sentiments as mine when I say Mr. Crowe was the best of the best teachers. He made us feel like one of his own, especially when we all looked different. That was what made his so special. 30 years later, we still talk about Mr. Crowe with fond memories. He left his mark in this world and blessed us all with his kindness, humor and best of all...his smile.
Rest in peace Mr. Crowe

Gerry was a great friend to us both. He was also our landlord for a year in 1984 when he took off on a round the world adventure leaving us as custodians at 40 Homewood Avenue. We were not however allowed full freedom as we were constantly under the watchful eye of Robert Emmett. We continued to meet over the past several decades during regular visits to Toronto where he was for so many years the life and soul of get-togethers at PJ O´Briens. We are certain that Mary King, who were so kind to him on his annual trips to Ireland could write a bestselling book titled Gerry Crowe and the Galway Races. He brought joy and fun to so many encounters. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to the family and to the entire Irish community for the loss of such a vivid and memorable character. My lasting memory of Gerry as a teacher at Neil McNeil CHS was of him hurtling into the parking lot usually 5 minutes after class start time and dashing into class wearing the fur coat. He rarely referred to the history text but his lessons often included dramatic scenes from history played out with Gerry standing on his desk brandishing a sword for effect! He certainly left vivid memories for an impressionable Grade 9 student.

I recently heard of the passing of Mr. Gerry Crowe. He was a very dear friend of the Irish community in the upper beaches in Toronto back in the 60's and beyond. A was a good friend to my father, and I have very fond memories of his visits to our family home, listening to his entertaining stories of his life in Ireland. Mr. Crowe as we respectfully called him was one of our teachers through the mid-sixties at the all boy Catholic school Neil McNeil. He was an old school teacher who demanded the utmost respect and absolute adherence to proper classroom protocol. That being said he had a terrific sense of humour. Our class of grade 10 was a very lively mix of characters, one being the soon to be iconic Canadian actor, John Candy. We formed the very first Theatre Arts class at Neil. Gerry didn't teach theatre but being an amateur thespian himself' would on occassion break from the subject matter and slip into some silly or dramatic characterization and involve the class. We'd roll in the aisles laughing at the antics, and then just as suddenly, it would be back to business. Some wonderful memories indeed! You certainly did make a mark Mr. Crowe! Rest In Peace!

We were friends up until 1994 when I left Canada. He was an old school Irish character who kept a strong Irish Limerick identity despite emigrating at the young age of seventeen. He was the big personality in the room when surrounded by friends and acquaintances.

I had the honour of being taught by Mr. Crowe at WCCI in 1976. He not only a gifted teacher but an entertaining soul. He loved his craft, he loved to laugh, he teased, cajoled, had favourite phrases and people. His stories of growing up, his faith, were evident. He was an incredible man and I remember his laugh with fondness. He will never truly understand his impact but his fingerprints are everywhere. Blessings to his family.

Gerry's aim seemed to be to raise the spirits of everyone he met. I think he pretty well succeeded.

A Chairde agus a nGaolta,
This passing is the biggest of them all in recent times.
The passing of Mr Ireland in Toronto,
What an immense character, greater than life.
He is already at work organising the Angels agus Saints in his own style.
All singing from Naomh Gerry´s hymn book, without a doubt.
Heaven will be an even greater place from now on.
It´ll be easier to look forward now that he´s there.
