Gilda Romano Obituary

GILDA ROMANO Today is a new beginning for both Gilda and us and when the clouds clear the sun will shine again. Gilda Romano, nee DiTata, beloved wife for 49 years to Mario, passed away with quiet dignity on December 21, 2009 in her 68th year. Born in 1941, in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy. Gilda came to Canada in 1956 and married in 1960. She leaves behind her daughters Diana, Helen and Victoria and sons-in-law Danny, Kevin and Cal. Her grandchildren Anthony, Daniel, Sarah, Kevin, Emma, Samuel and Max will miss nonna's cooking and passion for life. Her love of family, strong faith and incredible courage helped her through a long battle with cancer. The family would like to thank our many friends and relatives for their ongoing support and strength. Sincere thanks also to Dr. Leighl and the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. Maida and the Palliative Care Team at William Osler Hospital Etobicoke Campus. Family and friends will be received at Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke, on Wednesday, December 23rd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Roch's Catholic Church, 2889 Islington Avenue on Thursday, December 24th at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens, 1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke. In lieu of flowers, mom wished for donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Palliative Care Unit at William Osler Hospital, Etobicoke Campus.
