De CESARE, Giovanna June 4, 1926 – September 13, 2022 With sadness, we announce the passing of Giovanna De Cesare. She was born in Macchiagodena, Isernia, Italy and passed away in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the age of 96. She passed peacefully, with her family by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Angelo (2007); she leaves behind her dear children, Nick (Anna), Lucy (Bernie), Felice (Maria) and predeceased by Giuseppina (late Giuseppe). Cherished Nonna of David (Marcie), late Mark, Michael, Daniel, Tony (Yvonne), Angie (Tony), Rosa (late Sam), Angelo, Pina (Mike). Proud Bisnonna of Nicholas, Leo, Zephyr, Joseph, Adam, Joshua, Olivia, Sebastian, Felice and Alexia. Giovanna was predeceased by her siblings, Gennaro (Marta), Giuseppe (late Angela), Crescenza (late Felice), Pasquale (Rose) and Domenico (late Maria. She is survived by her brother, Nicola (Nicolina). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families. Giovanna was happiest when family gathered on weekends and special occasions. She looked forward to preparing delicious homemade meals such as cannelloni and lasagna, and she especially took pleasure listening to table conversation and reminiscing about the past. Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Avenue W.) on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew's Church (706 Old Weston Rd., at Rogers Road), on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 10 a.m. Giovanna will be laid to rest beside her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., south of Highway 7). In memory of Giovanna, donations may be made to the SickKids Foundation.
