Gladys Hamilton Obituary

HAMILTON, Gladys Beatrice - Peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Bethany Lodge on Friday, June 12, 2009 in her 94th year. Gladys was the beloved wife of the late Russell John Hamilton. Predeceased by her 2 sisters and 2 brothers, she will be loved and missed by her many nieces, nephews and special friends. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of the DIXON - GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street North (Markham Road), Markham on Wednesday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. Those desiring may send a donation in memory of Mrs. Hamilton to a charity of choice.

Gladys was the youngest of five children born to George and Agnes MacDonald of MacClennan, Ontario, near Sault Ste. Marie. After leaving the Sault she lived in Bruce Mines and eventually moved to the Toronto area. She lived for over 20 years at Thomson Court in Markham, Ontario, before moving into Bethany Lodge in Unionville, two years ago..
Although she never had children of her own, she was a favourite Aunt and Great Aunt.
She enjoyed a rewarding career in Office Administration until her retirement.
She loved baseball,the theatre,reading and always enjoyed a joke. She was interested in everything right up until her death.
Gladys was a great friend to many and she had many great friends who were there for her and went the extra mile for her when she needed them.
Gladys was predeceased by her two brothers, Russell and Austin and two sisters, Ethel and Pearl and her husband Russell Hamilton, who was the love of her life.
Gladys is lovingly remembered by her nephew Barry Smith, his wife Colleen and their children Shelley, Barry jr., Matthew (Mary) and Jessica
