GRACE MAKIMOTO Obituary

MAKIMOTO, GRACE TSUIKO (nee URA) April 15, 1935 – October 27, 2022 It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our mother from natural causes on October 27, 2022, at the age of 87. Beloved mother of Jeff (Pat), Dean (Kelly Ann), Kelly (Karen), and Bonnie (Ray), adoring grandmother of Jennifer (Rob), Quade, Dustin, Kalysta, Kaine, Kole, Nolan, and Reed, and great-grandmother of Finn. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Jitsuo Makimoto. She will be greatly missed from our daily lives, as well as by her sister, Nancy; sisters-in-law, Betty, Mita, and Marge; nieces and nephews; extended family members and dear friends. Grace touched many lives over her 87 years of life, in particular when she was an educational assistant, known to school children as "Mrs. M". She enjoyed keeping up to date with extended family via her recent interest on Facebook. Mom loved spending time with her family for events including: New Year's Day, birthdays, graduations, weddings, sports events and more. Most of all, mom and dad taught us many important values, that we will continue to honour and cherish throughout our lives. Grace's legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone she knew and loved. At Grace's request, there will be no funeral or service. Share your memories of Grace when you speak with others and help her kindness, loyalty and compassion continue by making a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

It brings such sadness to hear this news. Grace was well named as she was always the epitome of gracefulness and graciousness. The hundreds of children's whose lives she has touched is immeasurable and she will always hold a special place for so many of us. Sending my deepest condolences to Bonnie Jill, Kelly, Dean, Jeff and all of their families. May this beautiful soul forever rest in peace.

I´m so grateful to have so many amazing memories with Grandma Grace. I remember being little and spending the day with her making bracelets and necklaces. When I got older we would go out for lunch or dinner to one of her favourite spots, like Swiss Chalet. Whenever we were together we would always be talking and laughing. I miss you and love you Grandma. Love always, Kalysta

To the Makimoto Family,
We were so saddened to hear about the passing of your sweet mother Grace. We cannot image the grief you are feeling now. What we will remember most was her smiling face, the kindness in her voice and the kindness she constantly extended to others. When I think of my childhood days at home, she is always included. We will miss her very much. xxoo
