Graham Macdonald Obituary

MACDONALD, Graham - On Thursday, April 16, 2009 after a courageous battle with heart disease, at the age of 74, he laid to rest at his home in Hillsdale, Ontario. Graham is survived by his wife of 33 years Vicki. Remembered by his son Steve, his daughter Sharin, both of Huntsville and brother Gordon (Joyce) and their children Dan and Lisa. He was a 22 year Veteran of the Toronto Fire Department (badge no. 392), a brotherhood of gentlemen held close to his heart. Recipient of the Springwater Township Senior Volunteer of the Year Award and the Firefighters Exemplary Service Award. Graham was known as the 'Unofficial Mayor of Hillsdale,' a title bestowed upon him because of his devotion to his community, neighbours and friends. He pioneered the Neighbourhood Watch Program, Community Policing Committee and was the major 'driver' in bringing the Community Safety Zone to Hillsdale. A celebration of life will be held for Graham on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 3 - 4 p.m. ahead of the Canada Day celebrations Graham started at the parkette on Davenport in Hillsdale. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or SickKids Foundation. He will be seen again in the reflection of Lake Kioshkowkwi, He will be heard again in the blaze of orange flames, He will be remembered and loved always... Mizpah

He will always be remember in Hillsdale for all his hard work. I will remember Graham Macdonald as my sandman. He would send me sand from down south every year. We alway a good laugh when the sand was mailed to the office. I work for the Township of Springwater at that time. My prayer go out to his family.
