GUY POPPE Obituary

POPPE, GUY LOUIS Passed away peacefully, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Carol (nee Dumas) for 52 years. Beloved father of Mark (Kelly), Michelle (Trevor) and the late Christopher. Proud grandfather of Griffen and Carter. Dear brother of Herman (deceased) and Rita. Son of the late Albert and Nellie Poppe. Guy immigrated from Belgium with his family in 1956. Always the class clown and prankster, he surprised even his family when he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1973 and went on to become Senior Regional Solicitor in Ontario for Air Canada for many years. He was a man of great integrity and wit and was always ready with a joke or one-liner. He was also a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed music, fishing, woodworking, renovating home and cottage and restoring his beloved cars. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends here and in Belgium. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre and of Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Southlake Regional Health Centre or Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.
