GWENDOLYN LARSSON Obituary
LARSSON, GWENDOLYN (GWEN) JEAN CLARKE (nee ELLIOTT) It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gwen Larsson, on March 20, 2021, in her 94th year, after a brief illness. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Leif Larsson (2010) and loving mother of her daughter, Patricia (Trish) Larsson (2020). Gwen is survived by her son-in-law, Allan Mallette, along with family and many friends throughout Canada and Sweden. Gwen often remarked how fortunate she was to have had such a wonderful life. She was born on January 26, 1928, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, to Royd and Georgie Elliott. She was very proud of her Newfoundland heritage and spoke so lovingly of her years growing up there. Gwen was a proud student of Corner Public School, Mount Allison University, Queen's University, Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing ('51) and of the University of Toronto for Public Health. Gwen's nursing career spanned over 40 years, including TGH Northern Newfoundland Outpost, Sahlgrenska Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Trish was born, ultimately retiring from Public Health Nursing in Scarborough (27 years) in 1989. Gwen's Swedish connection added much to her happiness. Trish and Al, her animals, especially Timmy and Barney, her friends, Don Mills neighbours and health care providers, completed her circle. During her life, Gwen touched many hearts and she will be forever in our memories. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Princess Gardens in Peterborough, who took such good care of her and made her stay there so enjoyable. A Celebration of Gwen's Life will follow at a later date. For those wishing, donations in memory of Gwen may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Peterborough Humane Society, or to any charity of your choice.
